Our Story
Roberto Cereghini "Livarot", born in 1913, began his barbering career in 1924 as a shop apprentice in Pinzolo at the Formentini barber shop – tailor's shop, which overlooked Piazza A. Collini.
During his years as an apprentice first and then as a practitioner, he mastered both manual crafts – skills that would go on to shape his working life as well as those of some of his descendants.
In those days, combining the two crafts was both famous and commonplace, as each one filled in the other's gaps in work.
Work came to an abrupt halt in 1940 when World War II took him east for a full 5 years – first to the front in the Balkans and then to Dresden, where he spent several long months as a prisoner – worker.
After the war, in 1945, he decided to continue practising the crafts he had learned by taking over the barber shop of Olivieri Valentino, who had moved to Bolzano and left the shop vacant in Giustino.
On the banks of the Flangina, the Cereghini family's artisan tradition was thus revived. In the early 1950s, Roberto decided to move his practice to Pinzolo, at the salon of Ferrari Clemente "Figaro", until the early 1960s when he chose to continue the tailor's craft alongside his wife Maria Finesia.
Meanwhile, in 1955, his son Luigi began his career in personal grooming as an apprentice at "Figaro"'s artisan shop, working alongside Clemente and his father Roberto. On 1° January 1965, Luigi Cereghini started running the business in the same shop on his own.
His grandson Luca Cereghini, in the summer of 1983 at the age of 11, entered the world of men's hairdressing as an apprentice, following his father Luigi into the shop. In December 1992, he became the owner of the business, relocating it to its current premises at Piazzetta Ruina 1, still in Pinzolo.
Il detto dice "chi arte nu sa far butega sera"; quindi, con oltre 100 anni di attività artigiana alle spalle, la famiglia Cereghini "Livarot" si pone tra chi l'arte la sa fare.
A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.
